Smart introduces WAC enabled smartphone

In its mission to be a true measure and standard of leadership, Smart Communications, one of the leading telecommunications company in the Philippines unveiled its new smart phone called “Netphone” during the Mobile World Congress 2011 held in Barcelona, Spain last 14 -17 September 2011.

Powered by Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, this Netphone is highly customizable by the user.  It is also enabled with Wholesale Applications Community (WAC) device which helps various developers around the world to easily create smartphone applications in different platforms. For instance, Smart tied up with Jollibee to have an android application built in the phone that enables users to order their favorite meals.

Likewise, this Netphone is also packed with applications to easily connect to the most in-demand social networking services like facebook and twitter as well as instant messaging platforms such as Yahoo Messenger and other chat services. “This phone will surely be a direct competitor of Blackberry which is now gaining market share in the Philippines,” said Smart.
