ASEAN Dengue Day 2012


In response to the increasing threat of dengue in the Asia Pacific region, member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) marked the second year celebration of the ASEAN Dengue Day with the theme “ASEAN Unity for Dengue-Free Community”on 15 June 2012.

The celebration of ASEAN Dengue Day 2012 in the Philippines was conducted at Heroes Hall San Fernando City, Pampanga, headed by Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Enrique Ona. The event was attended by local chief executives, health workers, barangay officials and delegates from the local government units (LGUs) in Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA and Metro Manila
  The event was also attended by students from different schools in Pampanga
Part of the celebration was the recognition of barangays in San Fernando with zero dengue. These are barangay San Jose, Barangay Sindalan, and Barangay Maimpis.

Barangay officials also affixed their signatures signifying their commitments to be part of the advocacy to lower the dengue cases in San Fernando Pampanga.
